Website Creation – WordPress, What is it and why you need to know about it?

Website CreationAs promised, I will start a discussion of our 8 CORE areas with Website Creation and more specifically you will learn a bit about WordPress, I can almost guarantee if you have been trying to get in to Internet Marketing for any length of time the very first thing you hear about is WordPress and how it has made Internet Marketing a much easier business to be in than ever before.

The 3 main areas of Website Creation you need to become familiar with are,

  • Domain

  • Hosting

  • Content Management

Domain

Domain (short for Domain Name system) is a system of uniquely identifying your server on the internet. You can treat it similar to your phone number so your friends can reach you, similarly people for whom you are creating valuable content can find you easily based on the domain name as it is called in the Internet Marketing space.

So in essence the domain names are the first step in our Website Creation process as they help us have an easily identifiable name to be reached at. Domain’s used to be very costly just a few years back running to hundreds of dollars, but due to the advancement of technology you can now have your own domain for about $10 per year.

I will give access to video tutorials in this blog very soon on the basics of setting up your own Website that will help you in your Internet Marketing efforts.

The place I buy my domains, and while learning various techniques and implementing them managed to buy a few, is Name Cheap. They offer a very good service, are very nominal and make it easy to purchase and if need be sell your domains to a prospective buyer.

 

Hosting
We now have a name to identify our web real estate, we go to the next step of Website Creation, which is Hosting. Hosting simply put enables the domain name you had created to be available on the World Wide Web a.k.a the Internet, so that people looking for the content you are creating can locate your Website and access all your valued offerings.

I use Hostgator for my hosting purposes, and they had been awesome, helping me out with the simplest of things when I just started, right down to notifying anything may potentially be an issue on your site in terms of unexpected intrusion, lots of traffic etc. Again as with the Domains, You can learn more about this in the videos pretty soon.

Content Management

Now the moment we have all been waiting for in the Website Creation process, drum roll, please, enter WordPress which is a content management system (CMS). What does that mean you may ask?

It gives us a platform where we can create content in various shape and form, like this blog, for example, is built on the WordPress platform. Similarly, you can create general affiliate web sites, squeeze pages, coupon sites, amazon review sites and the list goes on…. It is not the first CMS to be available, but it is the most user friendly option for the non teckie crowd and now has the proud honor of being the most used.

If so much information is out there why do you need to read more about WordPress?
I have mentioned in the previous post, knowing the fundamentals and basics are the key to best implementation possible in any area of business and life in general.

While you must have been sold on all the awesome plugins, themes, squeeze pages etc… if you really know how best to put them to use then you will make validated purchases and that is one my most important goal for this series of 8 CORE areas of Internet Marketing.

I bought a lot of these tools and wasted a whole lot of money, when you just have the intention and go unprepared for the battle winning is difficult, and that was my early part of Internet Marketing career.

Now I have blessed to work with people making a killing and learning from them and hence the focus on the mindset and strategies than the tools and techniques, this applies even to some area as obvious as Website Creation.

So my friend coming to WordPress it gives us a user friendly and very powerful way of creating our own real estate on the Internet and again you can learn more in the free videos coming soon on how to use the power of this incredible platform to the fullest extent possible.

Now just to get your appetite for WordPress the reason it is the most widely used tool for internet marketing purposes are

  • It is totally FREE.
  • It is very customizable.
  • It has a lot of software developers extending WordPress to create awesome plugins and themes than those available for any other CMS systems, these make your life and Website Creation easier and richer (literally !!). So, what are plugins and themes? Sorry got a bit excited !

 

  • Plugins ? These are programs / application’s which adds a set of feature to your blog / website and make it very powerful. They take the CMS side of things to a whole new level by automating a lot of tasks that are very important for an Internet Marketers day to day activities (like SEO, Link building etc., which you will be learning in detail down the line.)

 

  • Themes ? The WordPress themes give your blog / website the overall look and feel, as determined by the specific design, functionality and layout you have chosen. For this blog, I have used the Lexicon theme / Genesis framework from Studio press. The various awesome themes available help you take you website to a very professional looking level by doing the heavy lifting for you which few years back might have required you to hire a very highly paid designer.

So much for the basics of what WordPress is and what it can offer you. Now you have enough knowledge to handle any new plugin thrown at you and can decide if you really need this or can check if there may be a FREE option available which can solve this problem. I will get you the best of FREE plugins/themes and some awesome paid ones too which I use, and the purpose it serves…

8 CORE Areas of Internet Marketing

You may have heard of the “Shiny Object Syndrome” / “Bright Shiny Object “in your daily Internet Marketing efforts.

If you look up a dictionary for the meaning and translate it for our purposes here it will be something that goes like this,

I can’t focus even for a few days implementing my recent purchase without having to stop, look and then buy the next Shiny Object that promises instant riches. Have you ever been there? I have been there (un-intentionally of course!) and learnt a lot from that experience, hence I do not want any of you to fall victim to what is a very prevalent problem especially when you are in to Internet Marketing or the so called make money online space.

The 8 CORE Areas of Internet Marketing

There are few key skills we need to master in any business venture and Internet business is not anything different. Here I shall list the 8 items and we shall look in to in much detail as the days go by…

Of course you need not master all of them! Certainly the more you can learn and master from this list the better your business will be, but as long as you start from this list and keep progressing every day you should do very well for yourself. Ok here go the CORE areas,

      • Product Creation
      • Traffic

The 8 CORE areas of Internet Marketing vs. Tools and Technologies

I am sure you must have seen a while lot of products on offline, kindle, mobile marketing or any other fancy thing that comes our way , each and every of these are applications which cannot survive without the 8 CORE areas of Internet Marketing.

Of course how I can leave out face book, you tube, pinterest, twitter and the other social media opportunities available. If that was your question, that’s a good one to ask, these are tools which give us opportunities to implement the 8 CORE areas of Internet Marketing.

The only issue in buying products based on various technologies is that you should be able to implement it with the big picture in mind; otherwise you are sort of lost as the technology keeps changing every so often, the recent Facebook timeline change as an example. The moment you understand the CORE then you can use any / all of these options and go in to any type of implementation that may give you the best results.

Questions to ask and pitfalls to avoid before your next purchase

The biggest pitfall to avoid when you are just starting to make money online, irrespective of your niche is (we will talk more about niches and how to choose the best ones in a later post) how to apply the latest purchase of yours to the best effect. The key questions you have to ask before making the important Internet Marketing buying decisions are,

    • Can I use the product right now or latest this week? If not the product is going to be OLD and may not be very valuable.
    • How will this product fit in to the 8 CORE areas of Internet Marketing listed above
    • How will this product contribute to my ROI (Return On Investment)
    • How will this purchase impact my business today or this week, If I start to use it immediately

Internet Marketing and the Power of Compounding!!!

Dear Reader, I am sure you have bought quite a bit of the latest jazzy software and plugins in your efforts to make money online on the premise that the simplest way to start becoming successful in Internet Marketing is to use the automated systems out there.

My friend I have got news, you have been lied to!!! You see not many products or coaching around actually focus on helping one to treat Internet marketing as building a true business. For anyone starting out it is indeed difficult to figure out especially when one has no clue about copywriting and after a few attempts using these latest tools and when especially things tend not to work as expected stop trying any more.

I have been guilty of the same and thankfully learnt a bit down the line after spending a few thousand dollars on Internet marketing products and hence want to warn you and more importantly prepare you on how to go about the business building aspects. It is a very sad situation, unfortunately, due to economy people are desperate to make quick money and instead they end up spending their hard earned savings and make their lives miserable…

Don’t get me wrong I am not saying all things we buy in the Internet marketing space are shiny objects. My premium wordpress theme here is an awesome buy and I love it for the ease of use and awesome looks, similarly we do need some valuable plugins to automate a few of the mundane tasks, but it knowing my market and how I can add more value will always be the key factor in determining the successof our Internet marketing efforts.

So what does the Power of Compounding have in common with Internet Marketing?

Albert Einstein is quoted as saying, “The most powerful force in the universe is compound interest.” Now let’s take this awesome power of compounding and see how it can change your Internet business as I like to call it. Let us keep it simple and take creating information products as an example, Say you have a target of creating a product (none of the mega launches, let’s just keep it a simple report or a set of videos for now) every 2 weeks and be consistent at that. In 3 month’s time we have 6 products that can be,

  • Sold for $$ :-), we all love it right.
  •  Given away free to build a list from your blog, face book and other social media sites.
  •  Given away free to build expert status so that people can start following you.
  •  Can be added as bonuses for other fellow marketer’s complimentary offer.

If you are consistent, then it is even more powerful than compounding.

Awesome, you have read this far, now I am convinced you are going to consistent and are giving to the community and you will be able to start forming serious relationships, which will help each other in the long run.

In compounding investment per month stays the same and is so powerful, here the investment grows each time you add another product as you can always go back and sell your older products (providing there are still relevant to current Internet Marketing situation) and hope by now you understand the massive power of taking it small but consistent steps.

One more thing I want to mention is do not focus on the latest tools and techniques before having some set goals for your business, the simple reason they are meant to be to automate and implement our long term strategy and where most people fail is they try to implement the tools without checking if it’s fits to their overall plan.

Focus on improving your MARKETING skills, which is going to help you in the long run and then go about the automation part of things.

Well the first steps I am going to take to unleash this power of consistent, compounded efforts is creating consistent content and products that can help you. I am sure you can do the same in your Internet marketing efforts and start seeing consistent income and greater success in the days ahead.

Lessons Learnt From Charles and How To Get FREE Copies Of My First WSO!!

What is the biggest thing stopping one from succeding  as an online marketing

  • IT IS NOT, Lack of Skills OR Lack of Knowledge .
  • IT IS FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN, The first time we are doing this we are not really sure how the results will turn out, will people love it or hate it and that has been the primary reason for many awesome products  / services never see the daylight.
  • SO FOLKS JUST GO OUT AND DO IT, Will there be failures , OF COURSE. But there are no failures only lessons and we certainly have an asset that we can give away for free if need be to provide value to your prospects / buyers.
  • Also you can add it as a bonus your friends or your own next products.
  • JUST VISUALIZE you already have a succesful product and go for it, then the leverage builds up and you keep getting better and faster each time.
  • THANKS TO THOSE TIPS FROM CHARLES KIRKLAND, I am letting go of my unnecessary fear and putting out my first WSO this week , “WSO Treasure Hunt”. My good buddy and mentor , Bolaji O, “The Nocrasitnator”, helped me through the process and am very thankful for his time and efforts.
  • Also I have been Lucky the last few months to have learnt from Darren Monroe , Peter Garety , Charles Kirkland and Bolaji O on a very close group / 1-on-1 Level and  shall share all those awesomeness here after the product is launched.

I shall do a video on the product tommorow, It is essentially a simple system to fight the INFORMATION OVERLOAD and how it helped our group become more focused and achieve great results in the last 2 months.
